Over the past few months, something funny has been happening in the health and fitness world. You may have heard about it – or maybe you’ve even experienced it for yourself!
It seems that almost every major diet tip — everything from eating low-carb to keto to intermittent fasting — is suddenly the number one most popular diet choice.
While some of these diets are totally legit and can work for certain people, others seem more like fads than solutions to weight loss.
That said, there is one diet that we feel really bad for encouraging you to do so here at HealthJunkie.com: The Bulletproof Diet.
We get it: Diets always sound good when they’re new. They’re easy to talk about because nothing is off limits – except sugar and milk.
And before anyone says anything about how much healthier the PBd is compared to other diets, remember: just because someone else’s food plan looks better does not mean it is necessarily the best option for you.
So what makes the PBd different? Why isn’t the media all talking about it as the top weight loss pick?
Well, it doesn’t belong to us. We own our website and business, so we would obviously want to help promote ourselves and our products, but also think very carefully about which diets work for whom.
The story behind the ranker
A few weeks ago, while looking through some of my competitor’s lists, I came across one that was very different from what we normally see – it didn’t feature product reviews, it didn’t feature close up photos, and it wasn’t geared towards buying products, it was just plain old information!
I got so inspired by this new style list that I made my own, and today I’m going to tell you all about it.
This is going to be a bit longer than most blogs do, but don’t worry — it’s worth it!
A word of warning though… I have included a link to my own personal Amazon account at the end, which means this article may not be appropriate for readers who are under 18 or those who want to keep their accounts private.
This week’s contest is for your favorite movie! We will not only name the movie, but we will also choose a key plot device or element of the film that either inspired a ranker or influenced how you ranked a movie.
The winner can pick any genre, anywhere in the world to watch the movie and judge it by its own rules. You do not have to vote for this movie at the end of the competition, so no cheating!
After you have watched the movie, leave a comment with your choice and why it made an impact on you. Be as detail-oriented as possible and include some stats or evidence to back up your argument. A link to the ranking system you used is required too!
I will review all comments and select a winner using several factors, including votes, comments, and timing.
How I entered the contest
As you can probably tell, I’m not very secretive when it comes to my love for food! My favorite foods are pretty popular (no surprise there) so creating recipes or cooking with others is something that happens all the time.
When I first started doing competition cooking about two years ago, I would always search around online if anyone had done such-and-such before. If nothing came up then I would make one myself and upload it! This was definitely not the best way to go about it as I ended up taking credit for their recipe but without giving them proper credit for it…
A couple of months later I found someone else who had done the same thing as me and gave them credit where credit was due but again, no crediting yourself which is totally okay just be sure to give people the credit they deserve! It took me another few months until I finally decided to take action and start uploading recipes more like the second person I mentioned above.
After doing this for a while I got some great feedback from other cooks and everyone praised how well put together my recipes were! People also asked whether or not I posted any tips in the process or anything helpful so I made sure to add those in too!
I wanted to share all of these things with the world so here we are today! There are lots of ways to get your own food photography, culinary styles, and tips organized and ready to go.
The process of gaining a following
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that once you have your platform, your community, and your style, then it’s just matter of keeping posting content to get more traffic. That’s not true at all!
Traffic doesn’t happen automatically. You have to work for it. And unfortunately, most people give up too soon in their efforts.
Why? Because they think that if they don’t put up any posts within the next few days or weeks, then there won’t be anything new for their followers to read.
But this assumption is totally wrong.
The number one reason why people lose momentum after posting a batch of blogs is that they expect everyone else to do the hard work of finding and engaging with what they wrote.
How I made the video
A few months ago, I noticed that all of the top YouTube channels were not using really strong graphics or rich media to promote their videos. They mostly used text and/or still pictures!
I found this rather boring so I brainstormed ways to make my channel more interesting. What if I created a fake dog eating a box of cereal? Or is a kid trying to push down a piece of pizza with his hands?
OR what about making it educational? Do kids love learning so why not use your time more efficiently by teaching them something new?
It is very common for people to teach themselves things (for example, someone who watches a lot of documentaries learns lots of knowledge) so why not create some content designed to do just that?!
My channel started off as just being fun but then I realized how many other people’s creativity was limited due to a lack of inspiration or education.
Inspiration can come from anywhere, even in TV shows or films! So instead of creating your own content, you can pick an idea you like and learn how to make it better by altering it slightly – which is what I did.
I learned how to make my own movie using Adobe Premiere Pro and YouTube Movie Maker.
The popularity of the video
This popularly-loved YouTube clip has garnered over 1.7 million views in just under two months! It’s no wonder why, with its catchy music and beautiful animation.
The eye-catching imagery includes a boat floating through what looks like water before it crashes into an island surrounded by waves. At first, there are only flashing lights but then the word “Ranker” appears and the song picks up steam.
It’s hard to take your eyes off of the screen as the lyrics clearly indicate that this is for someone who has made themselves look very attractive – or perhaps even sexy! – in order to win a prize or ask someone out on a date.
A lot of people can relate to this! After all, we all have pictures of ourselves looking our best pinned away somewhere close to use as inspiration when we feel too self-conscious about how we look. Or maybe you’ve got a picture of yourself in a bikini lying on the beach next to the half-finished bottle of wine you were drinking at 2 o’clock in the afternoon when you left home.
Either way, this short film definitely struck a chord and gave many audience members a good laugh. Many enjoyed reading the comments underneath the video asking if anyone else had done this and some found it entertaining to see if they could identify the person being spoofed.
